If you are new to Zoom, first download and install the Zoom desktop application on your Windows computer.

Download Zoom from the official Zoom website and install the Windows application by following the standard installation instructions.

After installation, open Zoom and sign in or create an account if required.

For this sample video, you only need to conduct a short meeting and record approximately 10 minutes of the class.

Important: Zoom Basic/free meetings currently have a 40-minute meeting limit when a host conducts a meeting with participants. Since the requested sample video is only around 10 minutes, this limit is normally sufficient.

Zoom's desktop application also provides a facility for recording the meeting locally on your computer.

If you are using the camera built into your laptop, pay attention to the lighting around you.

Avoid relying directly on ordinary LED bulbs placed in a way that causes visible flickering or poor lighting in the recorded video. If possible, use a suitable light source positioned so that your face is clearly visible.

Try to keep the camera stable and position yourself so that your face is clearly visible.

If your teaching method mainly uses a laptop writing pad or pen tablet together with a virtual whiteboard, camera quality may be less important because the main teaching content is displayed on the screen.

However, if you use a physical external whiteboard, pay particular attention to the camera position, lighting and readability of the board.

Before recording, check the video preview and make sure that your face, writing area and teaching materials are clearly visible.

Important: The camera should not be positioned where a strong light source is directly behind you, as this can make your face appear dark.

Prepare the material you intend to teach before starting the sample recording.

For example, you may keep the following items ready:

• A selected Quran page or portion of a Surah
• PDF files
• Lesson notes
• Word documents
• Arabic words and phrases
• Writing exercises
• Questions to ask the student
• Additional explanations or examples

If you have notes prepared in a Word document or another application, you can copy useful phrases or teaching points and paste them into OpenBoard when required.

This will reduce the need to switch between many applications during the class.

For Quran teaching, you may prepare the required Quran page as a PDF and display it through OpenBoard.

Tip: Arrange the materials in the order in which you intend to use them. This will make the class smoother and reduce unnecessary delays.

After opening OpenBoard, return to your Zoom meeting.

Use Zoom's Share Screen facility to share the OpenBoard window or your desktop with the student.

Once sharing begins, the student will be able to see the OpenBoard screen.

You can then:

• Write on the virtual board
• Display Quran pages
• Display PDF documents
• Show lesson notes
• Highlight words
• Correct mistakes
• Demonstrate writing

Before recording, check that the shared screen is readable and that important text is large enough for the student to see.

It is better to prepare the OpenBoard screen before beginning the actual lesson so that unnecessary switching between applications is avoided.

Tip: Before the final recording, ask the student whether the writing and Quran text are clearly visible.

Zoom can record the meeting directly to your computer.

Before beginning the class, check your Zoom recording settings and select a suitable location on your computer for local recordings.

Steps:

1. Open the Zoom desktop application.
2. Open Settings.
3. Select Recording.
4. Check the location used for local recordings.
5. Choose a folder that you can easily find later.
6. Remember the location before starting the recording.

It is recommended to use a normal local folder on your computer rather than relying on a network location while Zoom is processing the recording.

After the recording is complete, you can copy the final video to Google Drive for sharing.

Important: Remember the recording folder. You will need to open this folder after Zoom finishes processing the recording.

The sample video should give parents and students a realistic idea of your online teaching style.

During the approximately 10-minute session, try to include some of the following:

1. Greet the student.
2. Introduce the lesson.
3. Ask the student a simple question.
4. Teach or explain the selected topic.
5. Ask the student to read or answer.
6. Listen to the student's response.
7. Correct mistakes politely.
8. Write or highlight something on the virtual board.
9. Use a Quran page or teaching document where appropriate.
10. Give a short exercise or question.
11. Conclude the lesson clearly.

The video should show your ability to communicate with the student, explain concepts and use online teaching tools effectively.

There is no need to make the lesson artificially complicated. A simple, clear and natural teaching session is preferable.

After the Zoom meeting ends, Zoom processes the local recording on your computer.

Wait until the processing or conversion process is completed.

Then open the recording location that you selected earlier in Zoom.

Look for the final video file generated by Zoom.

Play the video once before sending it to Guidance Quran Academy.

Check the following:

• Can you hear the tutor clearly?
• Can you hear the student clearly?
• Is the video clear?
• Is the Quran or lesson material readable?
• Is the OpenBoard writing visible?
• Is the screen sharing working correctly?
• Does the video contain approximately 10 minutes of useful teaching?
• Is there any unnecessary part that should be removed?

If everything looks satisfactory, the video is ready to be shared.
