KNM Madrasa Classes – Classes 1 to 8

Our KNM Madrasa Classes are intended for students studying from Class 1 to Class 8, based on the structured curriculum of the Kerala Nadwathul Mujahideen (KNM) Education Board, Kerala. The programme combines systematic Quranic education with essential Islamic studies, enabling students to continue their Madrasa learning alongside their regular school education.

The KNM Education Board provides organised syllabi, textbooks and supporting educational resources for different levels of Madrasa education. Its learning resources include student textbooks, teacher materials, question papers and audio-visual materials. Online Madrasa education is also available for students who are unable to attend conventional Madrasa classes.

KNM Curriculum with a Class-Wise Learning Approach

The programme follows the KNM Education Board curriculum prescribed for the student's class, creating a structured progression from Class 1 through Class 8. At the same time, teaching takes into account the student's existing knowledge and previous learning experience.

Before progressing through the lessons, the tutor considers factors such as the student's Quran reading ability, previous Madrasa education and understanding of Islamic subjects. This makes the programme suitable for students entering from another Madrasa, returning to Madrasa education after a gap, or requiring additional assistance with earlier topics.

The curriculum is designed to develop age-appropriate Islamic knowledge and practical religious skills, including Quran recitation and an understanding of Islamic beliefs, worship, history, values and everyday practices.

Quran Recitation and Tajweed Development

Learning to read the Quran correctly is an important component of the programme. Students gradually develop their Quran reading skills, improve pronunciation and learn applicable Tajweed rules according to their age, ability and prescribed class syllabus.

Students who are beginning their Quran reading journey or need improvement in basic reading can receive additional practice and individual attention. Students with stronger reading skills can instead concentrate on improving fluency, pronunciation and the correct application of Tajweed principles.

Memorisation and Hifz Practice

Students are given opportunities to memorise selected Surahs and Quranic portions included within their prescribed learning programme. Memorisation is approached progressively, allowing students to learn according to their individual ability.

Regular revision and recitation practice are encouraged to help students retain what they have memorised. The amount and pace of memorisation can be adjusted depending on the student's progress and learning capacity.

Essential Islamic Education

Quran learning is supported by a broader programme of Islamic Studies suitable for each class. Students gradually learn about important areas of Islam, including beliefs, worship, manners, values and practical aspects of Muslim life.

The purpose is not simply to complete lessons, but to help students understand fundamental Islamic teachings and develop the knowledge required to practise their religion confidently in their daily lives.

Aqeedah, Fiqh and Character Development

As students advance through the different classes, they study essential concepts of Aqeedah (Islamic beliefs), Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), Akhlaq and Islamic moral values in accordance with the prescribed syllabus.

Lessons are presented according to the student's age and level of understanding. This helps students connect what they learn in their lessons with their personal conduct, responsibilities, relationships and everyday activities.

Seerah and Islamic History

The programme also introduces students to Islamic history and the Seerah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ through lessons appropriate to their class level. Students learn about significant events, personalities and important lessons from Islamic history.

These lessons help students understand the examples provided by the Prophets and other notable personalities while encouraging good character, responsibility and positive values.

Arabic and Quran-Related Skills

Where included in the relevant class syllabus, students are introduced to Arabic and Quran-related language skills. Developing familiarity with Arabic terminology can support students in their Quran studies and help them understand commonly used Islamic terms.

The KNM Education Board provides educational resources in languages including Malayalam and English, together with other supporting learning materials, helping students access the curriculum effectively.

Teaching Based on Class and Existing Knowledge

While the programme follows the prescribed KNM Education Board syllabus, the teaching process can take the student's existing knowledge into consideration. For example, a Class 6 student who has successfully completed the earlier Madrasa levels can continue with the expected Class 6 lessons, while a student with learning gaps can receive additional support in those areas.

This balanced approach allows students to strengthen their foundations where necessary while continuing their education without unnecessary delay.

Convenient Madrasa Education Alongside School

The programme is designed particularly for Class 1 to Class 8 school students who wish to continue structured Madrasa education alongside their regular academic studies.

With online classes, students can attend lessons from home and receive direct guidance from a tutor without having to travel to a physical Madrasa. The KNM Education Board also recognises online Madrasa learning as an option for students who are unable to attend regular Madrasa classes.

A Progressive Islamic Learning Journey

Our KNM Madrasa Classes provide a structured learning pathway from the early primary classes through Class 8. Depending on the prescribed class syllabus, students develop skills and knowledge in Quran reading, Tajweed, selected Hifz, Aqeedah, Fiqh, Islamic history, Seerah, Arabic and moral education.
